Tigers outfielder Hao-Yu Lee exits game after collision at home plate

Detroit Tigers rookie Hao-Yu Lee sustained an injury during a collision at home plate in the second game of a doubleheader against the Cleveland Guardians on Friday, Sept. 4. Lee attempted to score from third base on a ground ball hit by Spencer Torkelson in the third inning. Cleveland catcher Austin Hedges received a throw from Jose Ramirez and tagged Lee out, resulting in a knee-to-knee impact between the two players. Lee appeared to be in pain following the collision and left the field with assistance from team trainers. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch confirmed the team is evaluating Lee for a potential ankle injury. Dillon Dingler replaced Lee as the designated hitter in the fifth inning.
