Tigers prospect River Ryan makes organizational debut Wednesday with Triple-A Toledo

Detroit Tigers minor league pitcher River Ryan is scheduled to make his organization debut on Wednesday, September 9. Ryan will start for Triple-A Toledo against the Iowa Cubs in Des Moines, Iowa. The game follows a rain-induced postponement of his original debut date on September 8. Manager A.J. Hinch indicated that the outing will resemble a limited spring training appearance with a pitch count limit of approximately three innings. Ryan was acquired by the Tigers in the deadline deal that sent pitcher Tarik Skubal to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has been recovering from a hamstring strain and has not pitched in a game since June 17, when he was with Triple-A Oklahoma City. The Tigers have not provided a timeline for his potential return to the major leagues.
