Tigers trade Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize, acquire new prospects
Summary

The Detroit Tigers made significant roster changes at the 2026 MLB trade deadline, trading starting pitchers Tarik Skubal to the Los Angeles Dodgers and Casey Mize to the San Diego Padres. In return, the Tigers received several notable prospects, including Zyhir Hope and Kash Mayfield. Hope, a left-handed outfielder, is now the Tigers' No. 2 prospect following his performance in Double-A. Mize's trade also brought in Mayfield, a left-handed pitcher with a strong ERA in the minor leagues. The Tigers' decisions reflect a strategy to rebuild their roster through promising young talent.
