Troy Melton led the Detroit Tigers to an 8-0 victory against the Seattle Mariners on August 4. This marks Melton's second consecutive start of seven innings while allowing three or fewer hits since returning from injury. Despite the team trading away key pitchers Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize, Melton has thrived, posting a 1.58 ERA since May 24, which is among the lowest in the majors. The Tigers have won four straight games and are now 1.5 games behind Cleveland for the final AL wild card spot.
