Tim Merlier clinched victory in the eighth stage of the Tour de France on July 11, dominating a bunch sprint in the Dordogne region. This marks Merlier's second consecutive stage win and his fifth overall in the Tour after overcoming a challenging positioning in the last kilometers. Despite attempts from Liam Slock in a breakaway, which held a lead for much of the stage, Merlier surged ahead in the final moments to finish ahead of Biniam Girmay and Olav Kooij.
