The Minnesota Timberwolves will reportedly retire Kevin Garnett's No. 21 jersey on February 28, 2027, during a game against the Boston Celtics at Target Center. This matchup is significant as it connects Garnett's time with the Timberwolves and the Celtics, where he won an NBA championship in 2008. The ceremony has been a long time coming due to Garnett's complicated history with the franchise, aggravated by a fractured relationship with previous owner Glen Taylor. Following Taylor's sale of the team, Garnett re-established ties with the organization, paving the way for this recognition.
