Tobias Myers returns to Mets bullpen with improved velocity and performance

New York Mets reliever Tobias Myers secured a win on September 6 after pitching a scoreless eighth inning in a 4-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants at Citi Field. The right-hander overcame a difficult season that included a demotion to Triple-A Syracuse in June following a series of poor outings. Myers utilized weighted balls and water bags to regain his velocity, which returned to approximately 93 mph. His recent work with pitching coach A.J. Sager allowed him to simplify his mechanics and regain command at the top of the strike zone. Since his return, Myers has posted a 1.23 ERA with 17 strikeouts over 14-2/3 innings. Interim manager Andy Green noted the difficulty of the assignment, which required Myers to navigate the heart of the Giants lineup to preserve the win.
