Todd Monken names Deshaun Watson a Browns captain for Week 1

Head coach Todd Monken has selected Deshaun Watson as one of the five captains for the Cleveland Browns in the season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team intends to utilize a rotating captaincy throughout the season rather than designating permanent leaders. For the Week 1 matchup in Jacksonville, Watson joins Zion Johnson, Tyson Campbell, Mason Graham, and Rex Sunahara as captains. Coaches will select two offensive, two defensive, and one special teams representative for each game. Monken stated that players will vote on permanent captains at the end of the year to better account for the development of a young roster. The Browns and Jaguars are scheduled to play this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
