Todd Zeile executive produces documentary on the Mets post-9/11 return

Former New York Mets first baseman Todd Zeile is executive producing a new documentary, When America Took the Field, which premieres Thursday on MLB Network. The project reflects on the period following the September 11, 2001, terror attacks, specifically focusing on the role baseball played in the city’s recovery. Zeile highlights an organic moment of sportsmanship at Shea Stadium on September 21, 2001, when Mets and Braves players met on the field to share hugs before their first game back. The documentary aims to preserve these stories for younger generations, including the children of firefighters who served at Ground Zero. Zeile produced the project to document the lasting impact the tragedy had on the sport and the community beyond the well-known Mike Piazza home run.
