Tom Cruise shows respect for lucha libre as CMLL events unfold

"

Let’s catch up with the world of lucha libre in CMLL. I’m going to go over a handful of cool things from the past few weeks that caught my eye, and it starts with Tom Cruise showing respect for the sport. On the promotional tour for the film Digger, Cruise was interviewed by Atlantis Jr. Cruise put on a luchador mask, and he also expressed with his appreciation for what luchadores do in the ring. Compartir la lucha libre mexicana con Tom Cruise y Alejandro G. Iñárritu fue algo muy especial 🇲🇽 Un pedacito de nuestra cultura a través de la máscara. After PAC died, the luchador paid respect in the ring. ¡POR PAC! 🖤 Kemalito rindió un emotivo homenaje al integrante de Los Death Riders, recordando su legado ante la afición de Arena Puebla. pic.twitter.com/5i51QlHmeT — Lucha Libre CMLL (@CMLL_OFICIAL) September 29, 2026 AEW photographer Ryan Loco shared a memory of PAC excited to be in the photo of Kemalito receiving his Death Riders patch. The context of the tweet is soon after PAC’s death. Pac hated photos. HATED. This was the first time he was excited to get in a photo and made sure we took it. This is the match with Kira’s dive up above. There are a lot of cool teamwork maneuvers in the highlight reel, such as the finish. Olympia muscled up for a Samoan drop to Skadi. Olympia and Hera lifted Kira to toss her on top of Skadi for two splashes. Skadi will have her chance for payback when she meets Olympia in the Universal Championship match on Friday, October 16. Olympia won the first qualifier for the honorary championship. The elimination match came down to Olympia pinning Zeuxis for the win. Skadi won the the second eliminator qualifier by pinning Tessa Blanchard. Last but not least, Persephone is bringing Dr. Britt Baker DMD to CMLL for the Friday show on October 16.
