Bournemouth assistant manager Tommy Elphick has declined the opportunity to become Bristol City's new boss, a move labeled as "bold and brave" by former teammate Matt Tubbs. Elphick's decision comes after the departure of Andoni Iraola from the Cherries, as he looks to evaluate his long-term aspirations in management. Tubbs indicated that while Bristol City would have been a fitting first role for Elphick, staying with Bournemouth could yield successful prospects, including potentially guiding the team to European football next season. Elphick's strong reputation at the club as a former captain contributes to the respect he commands among current players.

"Bournemouth assistant manager Tommy Elphick's decision to turn down the opportunity to become Bristol City boss was "bold and brave", says former Cherries forward Matt Tubbs. The 38-year-old, who played for Bournemouth between 2012 and 2016, rejected what would have been his first role in senior management to assess his long-term options following the departure of Andoni Iraola. "I can see both sides of it," former team-mate Tubbs told BBC Radio Solent.
