English rugby league veteran Tommy Makinson plans to transition into an NRL coaching role in 2027. Following the conclusion of his final Super League season with the Catalans Dragons, the 34-year-old confirmed he has secured a position with an Australian club. Makinson is expected to focus his efforts on working with outside backs, utilizing his experience from a career spanning 386 professional games. He previously played for St Helens between 2011 and 2024, with brief loan stints at Whitehaven and Rochdale. Throughout his career, he accumulated 226 tries and earned 13 international caps for England. While the specific club remains undisclosed, Makinson stated he will relocate to Australia in November to begin his new assignment.
