Tony Washington is the only Hampton player drafted by the Thunder franchise

The Oklahoma City Thunder have maintained a wide-reaching scouting approach throughout the franchise's history. Since the organization's origin as the Seattle SuperSonics, management has utilized the NBA draft to build the roster alongside trades and free agency. While the team has recruited talent from various collegiate backgrounds, the historical record shows limited draft activity involving players from Hampton University. Records indicate Tony Washington remains the only player drafted by the organization out of Hampton. Selected in the 9th round of the 1983 NBA Draft as the 200th overall pick, the guard did not secure a spot on the final roster. No other players from Hampton have been selected by the franchise in subsequent draft cycles.
