Top recruit Sophee Peterson remains in Texas despite NIL restrictions

Sophee Peterson, the top-ranked setter in the class of 2027, has opted to remain at Trophy Club Byron Nelson for her senior season rather than transfer out of state. Despite the potential for increased name, image and likeness opportunities elsewhere, Peterson intends to fulfill her Texas A&M pledge and complete her high school career in Texas. The athlete is currently representing the United States at the NORCECA U23 Pan American Cup in Nicaragua. Peterson recently recovered from a meniscus tear in her left knee that required surgery this past summer. She now leads a Byron Nelson squad that has secured consecutive national titles while averaging 12.2 assists per set. Peterson plans to enroll at Texas A&M in January.
