Topps reveals concept for fighter jet version of Kon Knueppel card

Topps announced plans for a card featuring Charlotte Hornets guard Kon Knueppel as part human, part fighter jet, which was ultimately scrapped in favor of the "Kon-Air" design. The discarded idea surfaced during a discussion about its Alter Egos insert for the 2025-26 Topps Chrome Updates Basketball. Knueppel, selected fourth overall in the 2025 NBA Draft, had a standout rookie season, leading the league in three-pointers. He set several records during the year, including breaking the all-time rookie record for three-pointers and becoming the first Hornets player to win four Rookie of the Month awards. Knueppel averaged 18.5 points and was named to the All-Rookie First Team despite finishing second in rookie of the year voting.
