Toronto Blue Jays release minor league pitcher Edgar Gallegos

The Toronto Blue Jays released 20-year-old pitcher Edgar Gallegos from the organization prior to the start of their series against the Cleveland Guardians. Gallegos had spent three seasons with the franchise, primarily playing in the Dominican Summer League before appearing in the Florida Complex League and for the Dunedin Blue Jays during the 2026 season. In 14 appearances within the Florida Complex League this year, he recorded a 9.15 ERA and a 2.08 WHIP. He surrendered 36 hits and six home runs over 20.2 innings of work. Despite the release, he did log one appearance for Dunedin where he earned a save while allowing one hit over three innings. The Blue Jays enter the series against Cleveland with Spencer Miles slated as the opening pitcher for the opening game.
