Tottenham Hotspur Women adopt legacy number system for first team players

Tottenham Hotspur Women have introduced a legacy number system to recognize every player who has appeared in a competitive first-team match since the 2011/12 season. The initiative assigns chronological identifiers to players, starting with Joanne Ayre and Bianca Baptiste. While the club maintains a history dating back to its origins as Broxbourne Ladies in 1985, officials cited inconsistent early record-keeping as the reason for beginning the numerical tracking at the 2011/12 campaign. Players who competed prior to that date will receive non-numerical recognition for their contributions. The project follows a similar historical program implemented for the men's squad two years ago. The team will debut these identifiers during their season opener against West Ham at Brisbane Road this Sunday.
