Trayveon Williams will not return to the Detroit Lions practice squad following his release from the active roster on Sunday. Despite his performance, the team opted to retain Jahmyr Gibbs, Isiah Pacheco, Sione Vaki, Jacob Saylors, and Jabari Small as their primary backfield options. Because Williams is a vested veteran, he did not pass through waivers and is currently eligible to sign with any team in the NFL. It remains unclear whether the decision to keep him off the practice squad originated with the team, the player, or an impasse in negotiations.
