Four-star running back Tre Segarra from Byrnes committed to LSU football on June 16. He chose LSU and new head coach Lane Kiffin over offers from South Carolina, Tennessee, and others. Segarra, a standout player in South Carolina, rushed for 1,460 yards and 17 touchdowns last season. He is ranked as the No. 2 overall player in South Carolina and the No. 7 running back in the country for the Class of 2027. Byrnes football had an 8-4 record last season and was eliminated in the second round of the playoffs.
