Trey Yesavage faces live hitters in recovery from knee surgery

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Trey Yesavage completed a live batting practice session Thursday at the team’s facility in Dunedin, Florida. The right-hander threw 30 pitches over two simulated innings, reaching 93 mph without reporting physical discomfort. Yesavage has been sidelined since undergoing surgery on his left meniscus on August 11, following an injury sustained during a start against the Houston Astros. Manager John Schneider stated that the team intends to build Yesavage’s workload to 40 or 50 pitches before evaluating his readiness for a rehab assignment. With the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons season concluding on September 20, the team has a narrow window to test him in game action. The Blue Jays currently hold a 73-75 record and are pursuing an AL Wild Card spot as the regular season reaches its final weeks.
