Troy Melton exits game early with injury against White Sox

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Troy Melton was removed from the game against the Chicago White Sox on September 20 due to an apparent injury. In the fourth inning, pitching coach Chris Fetter and manager A.J. Hinch attended to Melton, who was taken out with the White Sox leading 3-0. Melton completed 3⅔ innings, giving up four hits and four runs while striking out four and walking three. Melton, who has previously dealt with right elbow inflammation, returned to action in late May after a stint on the injured list. Tyler Holton replaced him on the mound.
