Tua Tagovailoa’s roster spot in jeopardy before Falcons finale

Summary

Tua Tagovailoa is facing uncertainty regarding his position with the Atlanta Falcons as the team prepares for their pre-season finale against the Miami Dolphins on August 28, 2026. ESPN radio host Mark Zinno suggests that Tagovailoa's performance up to this point has not guaranteed him a place on the 53-man roster. He indicates that Michael Penix Jr. could be named the starter for Week 1, casting doubt on Tagovailoa's future in Atlanta. The quarterback, who joined the Falcons after a six-season stint with the Dolphins, has struggled with only three completions for 22 yards in his pre-season appearances. Tagovailoa's upcoming performance could be pivotal in determining his status with the team.
