Turner Helton leads Georgia Southern past Old Dominion in Norfolk

Turner Helton threw a touchdown pass and Tripp Bryant kicked three field goals to propel Georgia Southern to a 23-15 victory over Old Dominion on October 15. Helton completed 23 of 30 passes for 205 yards. The Eagles responded after Old Dominion initially took a 7-0 lead, tying the game with an 11-yard touchdown run by Terrance Gibbs. The Eagles extended their lead to 23-7 with a passing touchdown to Gibbs late in the third quarter. Old Dominion scored again in the fourth but couldn't close the gap. Georgia Southern improves to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the Sun Belt Conference, while Old Dominion falls to 2-5 and 1-3 in conference play.
