Twins acquire closer Jeff Hoffman from Blue Jays ahead of deadline

In exchange, the Twins sent Dasan Hill, John Klein, and Dameury Pena to Toronto and will assume Hoffman's remaining salary for the season. Hoffman struggled earlier in 2026 but has shown improvement recently, allowing just one run in June and posting a 3.94 ERA over the season. The move comes as the Twins aim to boost their playoff chances while currently sitting third in the AL Central with a 56-57 record. They will open a series against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday.
