The Minnesota Twins have released shortstop Orlando Arcia from his minor league contract. The decision comes after Arcia made 19 appearances with the team earlier this season but had been assigned to Triple-A since June. Arcia, a former All-Star, hit.271/.300/.354 with one home run in 50 plate appearances this season. The Twins' roster could have benefited from his presence, as they currently lack a middle infielder on the bench. Arcia will now seek another opportunity in Major League Baseball.
