Ty Johnson expected to play key role for Bills against Chargers

Ty Johnson is set to make his 2026 debut with the Buffalo Bills this Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. Johnson, who has previously been called the best third-down back in the NFL by quarterback Josh Allen, is aiming for a larger role in the offense. He played sparingly in recent seasons, averaging just three carries per game in 2025. With James Cook's current heavy workload of 34 carries over two games, incorporating Johnson could help alleviate some of that pressure.
