Tyler Conklin ready to return to Lions practice after calf injury

Detroit Lions tight end Tyler Conklin has cleared his physical and is set to return to practice on August 6 after being on the physically unable to perform list. He had been sidelined this offseason due to a calf injury, along with a series of other tight end injuries affecting the team. Sam LaPorta has recently returned after recovering from back surgery, while undrafted rookie Miles Kitselman and veteran Anthony Firkser are now on injured reserve with their own injuries. Conklin, who signed with the Lions as a potential key contributor at tight end, had previously played for the Los Angeles Chargers last season, recording seven receptions for 101 yards.
