Tyrell Sloan commits to future NRL return after Dragons departure

Tyrell Sloan will depart the St George Illawarra Dragons at the end of the 2026 season to join the Castleford Tigers in England. Despite signing with the overseas club, the outside back expressed his intention to return to the NRL in the future. His exit follows a tenure that saw him play 97 games for the Dragons since debuting in 2021. The decision not to offer him a new contract stemmed from long-standing concerns regarding his defensive and ball-handling performance. Sloan recently concluded his final season with the club, contributing to a late-year winning streak that included a final-round victory over the Parramatta Eels. He remains under contract with the Castleford Tigers for the upcoming term.
