Tyson Smoothy to join Perth Bears after Wakefield release

Wakefield Trinity has announced that hooker Tyson Smoothy will join new NRL team Perth Bears at the end of the season. Smoothy, who has four tries in 21 appearances this season, was released from his contract for compassionate reasons, as he expressed a desire to return home. Head coach Daryl Powell and director of rugby Ste Mills acknowledged Smoothy's contributions to the squad during his time at Wakefield. Smoothy will be among several players joining the Bears for their inaugural season.
