UCLA focuses on passing game consistency ahead of San Diego State matchup

UCLA looks to improve its passing attack after a run-heavy performance in a 45-24 victory over California. Quarterback Nico Iamaleava started the game completing 12 of 18 passes for 179 yards but added only two completions for five yards during the second half. Offensive coordinator Dean Kennedy cited two third-quarter penalties as key factors that stalled the passing rhythm during that period. Despite the offensive lull, team leadership remains confident in Iamaleava and the depth of a receiving corps that includes Mikey Matthews, Landon Ellis, and Semaj Morgan. The coaching staff is preparing the team for a home opener against San Diego State this Saturday. Players continue to prioritize a next-drive mentality to move past individual missed assignments or mistakes that occurred during the season opener.
