Charlie West, a left-handed pitcher from UConn, was chosen by the Los Angeles Dodgers with the 223rd overall pick in the seventh round of the 2026 MLB Draft. West, who played for the Huskies, led the Big East with 111 strikeouts this spring and earned All-Big East First Team honors. Over his college career, he recorded a 6-6 record and a 4.12 ERA across 16 starts. This selection continues UConn's streak of having at least one player drafted for 21 consecutive years. West is currently playing in the Cape Cod League, where he has a 2.16 ERA this summer with 26 strikeouts in 16.2 innings.
