UConn men’s hockey hires Sean Walsh as assistant coach

UConn men’s hockey announced the hiring of Sean Walsh as its new assistant coach on July 29, 2026. Walsh takes over the position after Nick Peruzzi left for Wisconsin earlier this offseason. Previously, Walsh served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Alaska Fairbanks, where he contributed to the team's championship wins. He has experience from coaching roles at Bowdoin College and the University of New England, along with time at USA Hockey development camps. Walsh, who comes from a prominent hockey family, will join head coach Mike Cavanaugh's staff alongside associate head coach Tyler Helton and assistant coach Alex Westlund.
