UFC launches new Meta rankings system for fighter evaluations

The UFC will implement a new rankings model called the Meta UFC Rankings, starting June 26, 2026. This system replaces the media voting panel that has determined fighter rankings since February 2013. The Meta rankings utilize the Elo rating system to objectively assess fighter skill and performance. Winning remains the most critical factor in ranking progression, accounting for 95% of changes. Inactivity and legacy fight decay will also affect rankings, with fighters losing their status after extended periods without competition. The UFC plans to phase out the old ranking method over time while continuing to use both systems during matchmaking processes.
