UNC football prepares for linebacker challenges ahead of 2026 season

With a week remaining until the 2026 season opener, the North Carolina Tar Heels face uncertainties at linebacker following the departure of their top three tacklers from last season. Khmori House, Andrew Simpson, and Mikai Gabayor have all transferred or graduated, leaving the team with limited experience. The returning players include Timir Hickman-Collins, Jonathan Agumadu, and Daniel Anderson, who combined for just 23 tackles last year. To bolster the group, UNC added two transfers, Derek McDonald and Peyton Seelmann, along with five incoming freshmen, including DQ Forkpa, to develop depth in this critical position.
