UND coach Eric Schmidt addresses roster depth and kicking competition

Following a 42-21 season-opening victory over Long Island University, UND head coach Eric Schmidt reviewed team performance during his weekly press conference in Grand Forks. While the Fighting Hawks built a 42-0 halftime lead, Schmidt noted a need for improved consistency in the running game and increased physical play from the offensive line and tight ends. The team is now preparing to face St. Thomas this Saturday at the Alerus Center during the Potato Bowl. Regarding player eligibility, defensive backs Jonnie Wiltshire and Avery Scott remain cleared to compete following court-ordered injunctions. Additionally, the kicking position remains under evaluation as coaching staff continues to monitor the performance of Luke Silvernale and Kenten Laughman after recent field-goal struggles.
