Summary

The No. 8 University of North Dakota football team prepares to host St. Thomas at the Alerus Center this Saturday for the 60th annual Potato Bowl. The game marks a return to the series for the two programs, which last met in 1964. St. Thomas enters the contest following a 15-9 victory over Winona State in its season opener. The Tommies, coached by Glenn Caruso, compete in the non-scholarship Pioneer League and are in their second year of NCAA playoff eligibility. UND head coach Eric Schmidt noted that St. Thomas maintains a defensive identity focused on pressuring the quarterback and limiting big plays. St. Thomas has rebuilt its defensive roster after losing nine starters from the 2025 season.
