University of Kentucky launches wireless service for athletic department revenue

The University of Kentucky, UK Athletics, and the UK Alumni Association have partnered with Collegiate Mobile to launch Kentucky Mobile, a wireless service designed for the school's fanbase. The network utilizes T-Mobile’s 5G infrastructure to provide cellular service with various plans tailored for students, staff, and alumni. A portion of each monthly bill, up to seven percent, is directed to either UK Athletics, student scholarships, or campus programs based on the subscriber's preference. This move, spearheaded by athletic director J Batt, aims to generate new revenue streams to support university programs. The service is available immediately to users nationwide and offers additional perks, such as VIP gameday experiences and hospitality access, to subscribers.
