UNM cross country teams receive preseason No. 2 national rankings

College SportsThe University of New Mexico Lobos cross country programs received No. 2 rankings in the preseason USTFCCCA Coaches Poll released Tuesday. This marks the first time both the men's and women's teams have held a top-two national preseason ranking simultaneously. The men's squad enters the season following a runner-up performance at the previous championship, while the women's team finished fourth overall last year. Oklahoma State currently holds the top spot for men's cross country, and NC State occupies the first position in the women's poll. Both programs retain most of their rosters from the previous year, though the men's team will compete without National Champion Habtom Samuel.
