U.S. fencing teams earn silver and bronze at World Championships

The U.S. secured two medals at the World Fencing Championships held in Hong Kong, winning silver in women's team foil and bronze in men's team foil. The women's team lost to Italy 45-29 in the final, replicating the matchup from the 2024 Olympic gold medal match. The men's team, consisting of Nick Itkin, Alexander Massialas, Bryce Louie, and Marcello Olivares, defeated Japan 45-28 after narrowly falling to Hong Kong 45-43 in the semifinals. Over the last decade, the U.S. men's foil team has won medals in two of the last three Olympics and six of the last seven World Championships. Individual competition saw three American fencers reach the quarterfinals.
