Usama Mir rejoins Worcestershire for the remainder of the season

Worcestershire has re-signed leg-spinner Usama Mir for the final three matches of the County Championship Division Two campaign. The Pakistan international returns to the club to fill the roster vacancy created by the departure of all-rounder Beyers Swanepoel, who has returned to South Africa for domestic cricket commitments. Mir previously made his first-class debut for Worcestershire in 2023 and is already under contract for T20 cricket with the side. Head coach Alan Richardson noted the necessity of acting quickly to secure a replacement before the team's upcoming fixture against Northamptonshire. Swanepoel concludes his stint with the club having featured in eight Division Two matches this year, where he recorded 31 wickets and contributed with the bat across all three formats. Mir is scheduled to be available for selection for the match against Northamptonshire, which begins this Tuesday.
