USC counts down to kickoff with John David Booty spotlight

As USC approaches its 2026 football season opener against San Jose State on August 29, the program recalls former quarterback John David Booty. Booty, who played for USC from 2003 to 2007, backed up Matt Leinart before taking over as the starter in 2006. That year, he led USC to a Pac-10 title and a Rose Bowl victory against Michigan. Despite facing injuries in his final season, Booty helped secure another conference title and a decisive Rose Bowl win over Illinois. After college, he was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings but did not see regular season action with the team.
