USD selects Austyn Modrzewski as starting quarterback for 2026 season

The University of South Dakota Coyotes football team has named Austyn Modrzewski the starting quarterback for the 2026 season. Head Coach Matt Vitzthum announced the decision on the 'Coyote Report' after Modrzewski, a redshirt freshman, outperformed 6th-year transfer Jackson Proctor and senior Nevan Cremascoli during fall camp. Modrzewski did not see game action last season, but the coaching staff believes he is ready to take on the role. The Coyotes will play their opening game at home against Central Connecticut State on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
