USGA pauses amateur status application for former PGA Tour player Colt Knost

The U.S. Golf Association has placed the amateur status application of Colt Knost on hold as the organization reviews its reinstatement guidelines. Knost, a former PGA Tour player and current CBS Sports broadcaster, applied for reinstatement last October. The USGA informed Knost that his application is paused while it works with its Amateur Status Committee and Executive Committee to evaluate the role and purpose of reinstatement and waiting periods for former professionals. The governing body confirmed it has temporarily paused multiple applications to ensure a thoughtful assessment of the current framework. Knost stated previously that he pursued reinstatement with the intent of potentially serving as a Walker Cup captain and gaining eligibility for additional tournament fields.
