UT athletics generates $1.15 billion impact in Tennessee economy

The University of Tennessee athletics has had a $1.15 billion economic impact across the state during the 2025 fiscal year. A study commissioned by the university revealed that industries such as construction, restaurants, and hotels were significant beneficiaries. Attendance at sporting events contributed $366.1 million, supporting over 8,100 jobs. The research highlights the importance of UT athletics in driving local and state economic activity, with $931.5 million stemming from Knox County alone. The findings are part of a push to better understand the economic role of the Vols.
