Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, at just 15 years old, took the captaincy for East Zone during the Duleep Trophy semi-final against Central Zone after Ishan Kishan sustained a wrist injury. Kishan left the field needing treatment, allowing Sooryavanshi to lead the team in a crucial match. Despite struggling with the bat, Sooryavanshi contributed two wickets as East Zone advanced in the tournament. This role marks his first experience as captain at any senior level, following previous positions as vice-captain for Bihar and the India U-19 team, which won the World Cup earlier this year.
