Valkyries open new basketball court for Oakland youth program

On August 6, the Golden State Valkyries unveiled a refurbished basketball court and mural at the OK Program of Oakland. Players including Kayla Thornton and Juan Toscano-Anderson participated in the event, engaging with local youth. The newly created court will serve as a recreational space for participants in the program, which focuses on mentoring black males aged 12 to 18. This initiative aims to reduce high incarceration and homicide rates by fostering leadership skills and academic support. The event included activities where students played basketball and interacted with the players.
