Vélez Sarsfield files AFA complaint against Boca Juniors over match regulations

Vélez Sarsfield has submitted a formal request to the AFA Disciplinary Tribunal seeking the annulment of its Copa Argentina Round of 16 match against Boca Juniors. The Liniers club alleges that Boca Juniors violated competition regulations by including six foreign players on the official match sheet. Current rules limit teams to a maximum of five foreign players allowed to be listed on the match report. Boca Juniors maintains that the incident did not provide a sporting advantage, noting that one of the six players listed, Ángel Romero, did not participate in the match. Vélez Sarsfield argues that the regulatory breach occurred at the moment the match document was signed, regardless of substitutions. The AFA Disciplinary Tribunal must now determine whether to uphold the match result or grant Vélez Sarsfield a spot in the quarterfinals.
