Vero Beach quarterback Champ Monds likely sits against St. Frances Academy

Vero Beach senior quarterback Wonderful "Champ" Monds IV is expected to miss Friday night's game against St. Frances Academy at the Citrus Bowl. Monds, a Notre Dame commit, appeared in pre-game warmups wearing a sling on his left arm and did not participate in drills. Freshman Makai White is expected to start in his place for the 2-0 Vero Beach team. The matchup marks a significant test for the hosts against the Baltimore-based academy, which is currently ranked second nationally. Monds has performed at a high level throughout the current campaign, completing 33 of 40 passes for 591 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions. He has also contributed 70 rushing yards and four additional scores for his team in the first two games of the season.
