Victor Plante drafted by Red Wings, brotherly connection established

Victor Plante was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2026 NHL Draft. He had strong indicators of selection, partly due to his connection with former Wings goaltender Chris Osgood, with whom he lived while playing for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. Plante’s brother, Max, was also drafted by the Red Wings in 2024, and they will play together at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Plante noted that growing up with competitive brothers influenced his development as a player. He posted 21 goals and 27 assists last season in the U18 league and aims to improve his strength and speed in the coming seasons.
