Viera football seeks district title and deeper playoff run in 2026

Viera High School's football team is targeting a district championship and an extended playoff run for the 2026 season. Following a strong 2025 campaign, where they finished as district runners-up and reached the Region 2-6A semifinals, the Hawks return a seasoned roster. Key players include senior running back Duke Butler, who is set to surpass 1,000 yards again, and an experienced offensive line. The team will also compete in a new district in Class 5-5A, facing teams like East River and Melbourne, and plans an out-of-state game against Catholic Memorial, the reigning Massachusetts Division 2 state champion. Viera’s season opener is scheduled for August 21 against Rockledge.
